New era at Asian Games 2018! The Queen Tai Tzu Ying locked the victory to earn gold while Lee Jhe-huei/Lee Yang also performed well and ended up bronze. They all pushed further the best records of badminton for Chinese Taipei at Asian Games.

Tai brought back a bronze last time in Incheon. Four years later, she has grown as World No.1 and went all the way to the top of the podium without losing a game. In the final, she powered pass India’s Pusarla V. Sindhu by 21-13 21-16.

It’s not only her first gold medal at Asian Games, but also the first in badminton for Chinese Taipei. What’s more, following Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open, it’s already her third champion in the same stadium this year.

As for the promising duo Lee Jhe-huei/Lee Yang, they showed energy and fighting spirit during their debut at Asian Games. They upset the former World champions Zhang Nan/Liu Cheng from China and avenged their loss in the Team Event.

In the semifinals, Lee/Lee fell to the top seed Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo 15-21 22-20 12-21. Although they couldn’t cross the barrier of the local pairs, they marked the history by taking home the first medal for TPE in Men’s Doubles.

To be mentioned, Lee/Lee just helped the team to reach another bronze in the Team Event few days ago. The total of 1 gold 1 silver 2 bronze were also the most outstanding results in team Chinese Taipei history at Asian Games.
